i have put a bale of timothy hay in my guinea pigs' cage. however my damn cats keep pulling out pieces of the hay and eating it. i was wondering if it is okay for them to do so. i already grab the hay from them as soon as i see them doing so.
They're probably just curious. Try to keep it away from them. Cats can't digest plant materials, and it may make them vomit.

A lot of cats like to nibble on plants because it helps with their digestion. The hay won't hurt them at all, and is probably actually good for them. It's probably one of the safest ways you can give them plant material to eat as many house and garden plants can actually be toxic to cats. The only thing you really need to watch out for is that they don't try to eat peices that are too dry and too big, because that could end up cutting their mouths and throats, or be a choaking hazzard.

Try to get some fresh, unpesticided grass for them.
They prob. nd. and crave some fresh grass for their digestion, prob. being indoor cats.
I do that with my strictly indoor rescued cats,.. pull up/cut lots of long, wide blade grass from my yard, wash and put piles of grass on a newspaper on floor for them to eat when I can.
They all come running and enjoy,.. some will puke up yellow bile w/grass blades later,.. but they need the greens and it's good for them.
Gd. luck with suggestion.

probably not . it mite make them vomit. you could get them something of their own like special grass or something.

We have mice now, but we used to have guinea pigs and rats that liked timothy hay…and of course, the cats would eat whatever they could find…and then they would throw it up. So, it's probably not a good idea. They do make cat grass just for them to eat, you could try that.
