I’m a beginner rider in english and an intermediate in western. i’m looking for a horse that is atleast 15hh and can jump. I would like to show, but all the horses I can find are either green or can’t jump. I would prefer to adopt, but if necessary, I would buy. Does anyone have any websites or anything?

It's a really hot summer and the hornets are out in full! They are driving my two horses mad and I wondered if anyone knew of any remedies or effective repellents to stop them bothering the horses.
if there are hornets or bees after your horses then there probualy means there is a nest around… look all over to try to find the nest once you do dispose of the nest with hornet spray and your problem should be resoved…. Hornets usulay dont attack or swarm unless they are threatend… my horses lived with a hornets nest above his i and out stall for about a month.. and only when i was in his doing his stall and tossing shaving up would they start comming… once i got rid of the nest they werent there no more… good luck… but if that dont work… give them chopped garlic in a jar(buy it at the store) and give them a tablespoon of that in there feed…. it works good for bugs… mabe hornets… good luck
How do you feed multiple horses bucket feeds in the field, without them trying to steal each others feed?
I know there’s lots of ways of doing this, but am looking for new ideas.
I was taught 2 ways to do it: put some buckets out there a distance away from each other so they won’t get confused or start fighting, OR get a large trough or two and put some grain in there enough for more than 2 horses.
What does the Cardiac Muscles do in a horses muscular system? Or anything to do with cardiac…muscles and horses?
Its for a science paper.
cardiac means it has to do with the heart. so the muscles contract so the heart will beat and send blood through the body
My dream is owning horses. Should I live in a apratment or live in a house on horse property? I read how much one horse's care would cost a year. (vet bills, farrier, hay for summer and or other seasons, cost of hay per horse, fly spray, wormers, farm fence and barn maintanence, and ect.) But right now I'm not sure what direction I should go in. I understand how much horses cost just to buy. And I also know that someone would need to make a decent living just to take care of themelves, their car (gas and insurance), mortage, water, heating and gas bills. But how much money would I need to make of year to take care of my horse(s), me and my house bills? And what if you are living by yourself?
I am not a yard person. I love horses!!
kill two birds with one stone. live in a barn with the horses.
We live on a 77 acre farm and have horses but it the fields are full of weeds and fescue. What are the first steps in making the fields good for horses to eat? Looking for some insight? Get rid of fescue? spray? take soil samples? etc?
Plow it up , Till the old grass/ weeds under , and reseed with Timothy … will make excellent horse hay and fresh grazing.
I brush my horses and the brushes get dusty, and hairy, and gross. How do I clean them? Do I just soak them in water?
While you are brushing, carry a curry comb and clean off the brush alot. To give them a good cleaning, put them in a bucket with warm water, and some shampoo (horse works fine) and swish them around, if they are wood, dont let them soak 2 long. Then, just take them out and air dry.
It takes about 3-4 more steps before my horses stop. I think the fault must be mine. I use the Whoa command and pull back on the reins. I try to plant myself in the saddle and push my legs forward but I am usually only at a walk at the time and not moving much anyway.
what you need to do is not to pull back on the reins - just stop moving your hands so that the foreward movement is blocked, push your stomach towards your hands and stop as much movement in the hips as possible. make sure your horse is listening to you before you ask it to stop and that you have your shoulders back and heels down. it doesn't matter if it takes a few steps to start with, after practice the horse will get the idea and the halt will come quicker. hope this helps xx
Recently on the news, there was talk about a rottweiler that took down, and killed a horse. (Not a pony- a horse)
How do dogs do this? The horse is an animal that weighs over 1,000 lbs, and the rottweiler probably weighed 100 lbs. How are dogs capable of killing horses by themself?
I'm guessing this is either a stray dog that was starving and it's instinct kicked in and caught the horse off gaurd or the horse kicked the dog and some how was able to go for it's throat because if it had bit the horse anywhere else the horse would either run like crazy if it was able or fight back and anyone that has either been kicked by a horse or known someone that has knows they pack a wallop.
I am looking to donate to a horse charity. Which one will be most benificial to horses AND they can be saved for the amount I am willing to donate? URLs are accepted.
Most all horse charities are good. I do know that United Pegasus Foundation in Southern California is trying to save some horses currently. The owner has about 15 horses he is wanting to send to the slaughterhouse. Helen is currently trying to save the horses from going to slaughter. Because they have 160 horses on their lots, they have no where to put these other horses and so the current owner has agreed to not send the horses to slaughter if he can get $30 per horse per month. They have until September to get the horses. You can contact Helen by phone to talk to her more about what the United Pegasus is doing and she can tell you more about the horses that she is trying to keep from going to slaughter. Or you can check out their website at:

I just checked the website and there has been some changes since I spoke with Helen. They are currently trying to get the slaughter bound horses here in the US by the end of January. It appears there has been an increase in urgency for the horses.
I do check several of the various horse rescue agencies and at this time, I would say that United Pegasus Foundation is the one in most urgent need. The others seem to be hanging in there currently.
